Got the 81 528i home from the police impound lot. I think we are going to attempt a ressurection with this one. 5sp, no rust, 77k hard miles. Clear coat on an old respray is toast, Maaco perhaps?

Was running as of June when the center bearing on the driveshaft failed. Hence why the front half of the shaft was in the back seat. No key, and now a big drill bit sized hole where the key goes to unlock the steering wheel.

Re maining parts of driveshaft now out and the mouse piss source evicted.

Driver vinyl seat bottom is torn. Top of rear sear is sun cracked. Carpet is very faded. I think all that was before the time spent outside with the window down and sunroof partially open.

Just found a little cancer bottom of driver door, otherwise a couple of superficial spots from paint damage.

My first thought would be a swap of the drive train into something else, but that’s a really handsome sedan with the correct number of doors. 81 is probably kind of a malaise year, though...

If it runs solid, I’d probably do a Roadkill-ish deal and kind of strip out the inside and make a thrasher out of it. Manual, right? It’s a really handsome body though. Keeper, says I.
